What is CRCF?
The Carbon Removals and Carbon Farming Certification Framework (CRCF) of the European Union is a carbon removal certification standard system proposed and established by legislation by the European Union. This framework aims to establish a unified, scientific and verifiable carbon removal certification system. It is used to quantify and certify various types of carbon removal activities such as natural carbon sinks, industrial carbon capture and storage (CCS, DACCS), bioenergy carbon capture (BECCS), and carbon sequestration products (wood structure building materials, etc.).
The effective date of CRCF
It will be launched after the EU legislation is passed in 2024, trial certification will begin in 2025, and the EU carbon removal registration system will be launched in 2028.
